Pregnancy
Learn about the stages of your pregnancy with our detailed week-by-week guide, detailing how your body is changing, plus the growth and development of your baby.
What’s your baby up to in his watery world this week? Intrauterine mischief! He may be sucking his thumb, turning somersaults, or pulling and grabbing the umbilical cord as if it were a toy.
Believe it or not, this week heralds the mid-point of your pregnancy. If you go full term, from the start of your last menstrual period to the time you give birth, your pregnancy will be about 40 weeks long. So you're halfway there. Congrats!
If you were able to see a picture of your baby around week 9, you might have thought he was "top-heavy" because his head was so big compared to the rest of his body. But you wouldn't think that any more. Now his head and body are much more in proportion.
You're probably feeling pretty good these days. Your waistline may have vanished but most likely you can still bend over easily, sit comfortably, and walk without effort.
At this point in your baby's development, his skin is wrinkly, but his intrauterine wrinkles will disappear as he gains more weight.
